The BMW R 90 S was a milestone in 1973. With 67 hp and a top speed of 200 km/h, it was not only powerful but also trendsetting. It was the first production bike with an aerodynamic handlebar fairing and a distinctive tail hump. Racing successes, such as the victory at the Production TT on the Isle of Man and the AMA Superbike title, cemented its status as a classic.

A Retrospective: The Legendary BMW R 90 S
The new BMW R 12 S: Modern Retro Design
Based on the R 12 nineT, BMW Motorrad brings the style of the R 90 S into the present with the R 12 S. The retro touches are unmistakable: the cockpit fairing with tinted windscreen, the seat with contrast stitching, and the paint in Lava Orange metallic are reminiscent of the classic Daytona Orange of the 70s. Additional design elements, such as the red "S" on the side panels and the brushed aluminum surfaces, emphasize the high-quality craftsmanship.
Standard equipment and BMW Original Accessories
The BMW R 12 S offers an extensive standard equipment package, including:
- Option 719 Classic II wheels with wire spokes.
- Milled parts packages Shadow and Shadow II, including high-quality details like cylinder head covers and footrest systems.
- Comfort package with Hill Start Control, heated grips, and Shift Assistant Pro.
- Adaptive cornering light technology Headlight Pro for optimal visibility in curves.
Numerous factory options are available for customization, including:
- Digital display with micro-TFT screen.
- Original BMW accessories such as a titanium exhaust silencer or a short tail section.
Prices are not yet known, but the R 12 nineT starts at 17,410 euros in Germany. Therefore, the price for the R 12 S will be slightly higher.
