KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021 vs. KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021 and the KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017 are both powerful enduro motorcycles with V-twin engines and chain transmissions. However, there are several notable differences between the two models.

The Adventure R also has a higher seat height at 890mm compared to 849mm on the Super Adventure S. In terms of strengths, the Super Adventure S offers a very sporty and powerful V2 engine, accessible handling, comfortable seating position, good brakes with cornering ABS, and a comprehensive electronics package. It also has a clear and well-structured instrumentation with a large 7-inch display. The Adventure R, on the other hand, boasts a powerful engine, practical modes for onroad and offroad, a robust and offroad-compatible chassis, and a wide range of accessories and equipment from KTM.

However, both models have their weaknesses. The Super Adventure S has a somewhat sluggish turn-in behavior in bends and a package design and pricing policy that may not be appealing to some. The Adventure R, on the other hand, has an enormous seat height that may not be suitable for shorter riders, and the engine response can be too sporty on long trips, while also feeling sluggish at low speeds.

Overall, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S 2021 offers more advanced features and a more refined riding experience, while the KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017 is a more rugged and offroad-focused option with a lower price point.
