It is also stable at motorway speeds and has a smooth running engine, making it suitable for city traffic. On the other hand, the MT-09 is commended for its harmonious optics and character, lively handling, comfortable seating position for tall riders, and incredibly powerful engine.

In terms of weaknesses, the Z900 is criticized for being quite small for tall people, having a high weight which affects acceleration, and having a somewhat restrained 4-cylinder sound at low revs. The MT-09, on the other hand, is said to be exhausting when ridden briskly, requiring more riding skills compared to other bikes in its class, having a lack of precision, and a subpar feeling for traction on the rear wheel.

Overall, both the Kawasaki Z900 70kW 2018 and the Yamaha MT-09 2018 have their own strengths and weaknesses. The Z900 may be more suitable for riders looking for a smooth and stable ride, while the MT-09 may appeal to those seeking a more powerful and agile experience.

Pros and Cons in comparison

Pros and Cons in comparison

Kawasaki Z900 70kW 2018

Kawasaki Z900 70kW 2018

The Z900 is a top entry-level motorbike. Very smooth engine, great brakes and lots of adjustment options on the chassis and levers. The acceleration may be too good for speed junkies, but it's just right for learning. The lack of electronic gimmicks, riding modes and traction control doesn't bother either, but makes the Z900 a good bike to learn the basics of two-wheeled locomotion. A high-quality purist, a real motorbike, even with only 48 hp!

Smooth engine with punch at approx. 6000 rpm

Finely controllable brakes

Smooth running of the engine super for city traffic

Typical 4-cylinder shriek, but very restrained at low revs

Stable at motorway speeds

Good handling

Quite small for tall people

rather high weight of 210 kg

acceleration with 48 hp rather poor due to weight

Yamaha MT-09 2018

Yamaha MT-09 2018

A coherent motorbike where everything fits together. The motorbike delivers what its looks promise. High-tech, charisma and lots of adrenaline. It is a mixture of supermoto, naked bike and streetfighter and it loves to be handled irrationally. A cool motorbike. Only in comparison with the MT-09 SP does one begin to miss a high-quality chassis.

Optics and character harmonise perfectly

wheels smoothly

lively handling

comfortable seating position even for tall riders

engine feels incredibly powerful

Exhausting when ridden briskly

bike requires more riding skills overall than other naked bikes in the mid-range

feeling for traction on the rear wheel not so great

lack of precision.
