It may not be the official successor, but at least in spirit, the new Tiger Sport 800 seems to carry on the legacy of the popular Tiger Sport 1050 from 2013. Back then, especially after a major update in 2016, Triumph managed to strike a balance between sporty riding pleasure and pragmatic resilience with a versatile overall package, appealing to many motorcyclists. According to Triumph's Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent, the new Tiger Sport 800 also focuses on the compromise between sportiness, touring, and everyday usability. "We know that the target audience is very demanding and looks for a bike that is exciting to ride but also meets all practical requirements. That's why we have developed a compelling package that includes smooth power delivery, a perfect balance between agility and stability, an accessible seat height, a comfortable upright seating position, and integrated luggage options."

Triumph Tiger Sport 800 2025 with new inline-triple

We start with the components and parts that are meant to ensure sportiness and riding performance. At the heart of this is the new 798 cc inline-triple engine. It delivers a peak power of 115 hp at 10,750 rpm and a torque of 84 Nm at 8,500 revs. Looking at the other triples in the British model portfolio, the question immediately arises whether the new inline-triple, like the Tiger 900 and Tiger 1200 engines, uses a crank pin offset to achieve a grunty, torque-rich engine characteristic, or if it is a classic triple, presumably derived from the 765 cc triple from the Street Triple models. Triumph did not explicitly comment on this in the first press release for the new Tiger Sport. Statements such as that the Tiger Sport 800 already provides 90% of the torque in the mid-range support the first variant more. At the same time, however, the linear, triple-typical power delivery is also emphasized. A classic triple would also fit better with a road bike with a sporty character, which makes the second variant seem more likely. The first test will bring clarity here.

The new engine is paired with a smooth six-speed gearbox featuring the TRIUMPH shift assist with blipper function as standard. The anti-hopping clutch is designed to provide the rider with better control at low speeds and deliver a light yet precise lever feel, which could be particularly advantageous in the bustling traffic of the city.

Chassis and Handling of the New Triumph Tiger Sport 800 2025

To allow the engine to unleash its potential on twisty roads, the Tiger Sport 800, with its wet weight of 214 kg, promises nimble handling and potent components. The suspension is handled by an adjustable Showa setup. Up front, there's an upside-down cartridge fork with a 41 mm stanchion diameter and separate function, including adjustable rebound and compression damping. This is complemented at the rear swingarm by a shock absorber with adjustable rebound damping and 150 mm of travel, as well as a hydraulic remote preload adjustment.

For the braking of the Triumph Tiger Sport 800, in-house 4-piston radial calipers and two 310 mm disc brakes at the front, as well as a two-piston floating caliper with a 255 mm disc brake at the rear, are installed. The Michelin Road 5 sport touring tires provide grip as standard.

Triumph Tiger Sport 800 2025 also made for touring and daily use!

To ensure that the Tiger Sport 800 not only rides well but also provides comfort for the rider, it is designed to offer a pleasant, upright seating position combined with a comfortable, ergonomically shaped seat with generous padding. The pillion seat also features integrated grab handles for additional passenger safety. The accessible seat height of 835 mm and a narrow step arch are intended to instill confidence during low-speed maneuvers and provide a reassuringly stable feeling when stationary. On long stretches in the saddle, one can appreciate an adjustable windscreen with one-hand operation, integrated wind deflectors, an 18.6-liter fuel tank, and long service intervals of 16,000 km.

Triumph Tiger Sport 800 2025 - Plenty of Features as Standard

Even in its standard version, the Tiger Sport 800 offers many features. Three riding modes - "Sport," "Street," and "Rain" - are available at the push of a button. Compared to the "Street" setting, the "Sport" mode provides an even more direct throttle response, while the "Rain" mode engages traction control earlier and offers a gentler throttle response. Cornering ABS and cornering traction control are also included, enhancing safety, while cruise control adds comfort on long tours.

Controlled and read via a compact multifunction display with an LCD base and an integrated color TFT screen, these electronic systems are now used in many Triumph models. Originally, the display was reserved for entry-level models like the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660, but it is now also installed on the 2025 Speed Twin 900 and Speed Twin 1200, not without some controversy. The Tiger Sport 800 also relies on the LC-TFT display, which includes the "My TRIUMPH" connectivity system. This allows for turn-by-turn navigation to be displayed, as well as phone and music information, all delivered to the display via Bluetooth. Lastly, the LED light elements, including daytime running lights, should be mentioned.

Triumph Tiger Sport 800 2025 Accessories

As is common nowadays, Triumph also offers a host of optional extras for the Tiger Sport 800, such as heated grips, various premium paint options, Akrapovic slip-on exhausts, and more. Particularly noteworthy are several luggage systems specifically designed for the Tiger Sport 800, whose design complements the Tiger and can be mounted on existing, hidden luggage mounts.

Triumph Tiger Sport 800 2025 Price & Availability

Starting February 2025, the new Tiger Sport 800 will be available at dealers in Germany starting at 11,795 euros and in Austria starting at 12,995 euros. Triumph offers a four-year manufacturer's warranty on the Tiger Sport 800 with no mileage limit.
