KTM 1190 Adventure 2016 vs. KTM 1090 Adventure 2018

The KTM 1190 Adventure model year 2016 and the KTM 1090 Adventure model year 2018 are both enduro motorcycles produced by KTM. While they share some similarities in terms of their technical specifications, there are also notable differences between the two models.

In terms of the motor and drivetrain, the KTM 1190 Adventure 2016 has a bore of 105 mm and a stroke of 69 mm, resulting in a power output of 150 HP and a torque of 125 Nm. It features a 1195 cc displacement and an electric start. The transmission is chain-driven, and it has a 2-cylinder engine. On the other hand, the KTM 1090 Adventure 2018 has a slightly smaller bore of 103 mm and stroke of 63 mm, resulting in a power output of 125 HP and a torque of 109 Nm. It also has an electric start, a chain-driven transmission, and a 2-cylinder engine, but with a smaller displacement of 1050 cc.

Both models feature a telescopic upside-down fork suspension at the front and a WP suspension at the rear. They have a chromium-molybdenum frame and a tubular frame type. In terms of strengths, the KTM 1190 Adventure 2016 combines sportiness with comfort, has a smooth gearbox, a powerful and controllable engine, excellent seating position, practical chassis, sophisticated electronics, and ABS with lean angle. On the other hand, the KTM 1090 Adventure 2018 has a very powerful and cultivated engine with a wide range of rotations, performance modes, adjustable traction control, agile and safe handling, adjustable ergonomics, adjustable windscreen height, low weight, and a comparatively lower price.

However, the KTM 1190 Adventure 2016 has some weaknesses, including the engine being a bit jerky below 3000 rotations and not feeling as independent as its predecessor. It also lacks smooth slipping. The KTM 1090 Adventure 2018, on the other hand, has weaknesses such as outdated optics compared to the new 1290 Super Adventures and a non-adjustable fork suspension.

In summary, while both the KTM 1190 Adventure 2016 and the KTM 1090 Adventure 2018 are capable enduro motorcycles, the 2018 model offers some additional features and improvements compared to its predecessor. However, the 2016 model still has its strengths and may be preferred by riders who prioritize certain aspects such as a more powerful engine and sophisticated electronics.
