É por isso que a nova 1290 Super Duke R é um pouco mais fácil de manusear do que a sua antecessora, mas também um pouco mais forte e mais rápida. Já a 2500 rpm, mais de 100 Nm estão disponíveis, o máximo é 141, o desempenho máximo é declarado em 177 hp. Pode ser demasiado, mas não tem de ser. A eletrónica continua a ser a tábua de salvação nesta categoria, onde o desenvolvimento continua a avançar fortemente. A KTM começou onde tinha dificuldades e isso foi a estabilidade. As alterações à geometria e ao chassis melhoraram significativamente este aspeto, tornando a condução da besta não só mais rápida, mas também mais segura. A manobrabilidade não é menos radical por isso, e os genes de supermoto são mais evidentes do que em qualquer outra moto naked. Só pode haver uma Super Duke.

Precisa de 175 cv ou mesmo de controlo de arranque numa moto de turismo? Claro que não. É divertida? Sem dúvida! Embora a Super Duke GT não consiga esconder os seus genes e seja inegavelmente uma Duke em termos de agilidade e potência em curva, apesar dos seus 209 kg de peso a seco, ainda é possível passear de forma descontraída, assumindo sempre uma certa "maturidade" com estes dados de desempenho, claro.
