Starting with the Yamaha R7 2021, it is a supersport bike designed for those seeking a high-performance riding experience. In terms of suspension, the R7 features an upside-down telescopic fork in the front and a swing arm with a monoshock absorber in the rear. This setup provides a sporty and responsive ride. The frame of the R7 is made of steel, which offers a good balance between rigidity and weight. The bike has a rake angle of 66.3 degrees, contributing to its agile handling. The Yamaha MT-09 2021, on the other hand, is a naked bike that combines performance with versatility. It is powered by an 889cc inline three-cylinder engine, delivering an impressive 119 HP of power and 93 Nm of torque. Like the R7, the MT-09 features a 11.5 compression ratio and fuel injection. The engine is also equipped with DOHC 4-valve per cylinder configuration and liquid cooling.
In terms of suspension, the MT-09 shares the same upside-down telescopic fork in the front and swing arm with a monoshock absorber in the rear as the R7. The chassis of the MT-09, however, is made of aluminum, which offers a lighter and more rigid structure. The bike has a slightly smaller rake angle of 65 degrees, contributing to its stable and responsive handling. The braking system consists of double disk brakes in the front, providing strong and reliable stopping power. In addition to ABS, the MT-09 also features a quickshifter and traction control, enhancing its performance and safety.
In terms of dimensions and weights, the R7 has a wheelbase of 1395 mm and a kerb weight of 188 kg (with ABS). It has a fuel tank capacity of 13 liters. In terms of strengths, the R7 is praised for its high-torque CP2 engine, sporty riding position, suspension set-up, standard tires, and being a good entry-level trackday bike. On the other hand, the MT-09 is praised for its lack of load change reactions, pressure from the center, over-complete electronics package, great working quickshifter, comfortably integrated seating position, successful chassis, lively handling, and enormous riding pleasure.
As for weaknesses, the R7 is noted to lack a quickshifter as standard, which would have been a nice addition. The MT-09, on the other hand, is criticized for its polarizing look, small TFT display, somewhat indirect front wheel feel, and cruise control only being available in the SP variant.
In summary, the Yamaha R7 2021 and the Yamaha MT-09 2021 are both impressive bikes with their own strengths and weaknesses. The R7 is a supersport bike focused on performance and trackday capabilities, while the MT-09 is a versatile naked bike that offers a combination of performance and comfort. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on the rider's preferences and intended use.

Yamaha R7 2021
Despite the rather idiosyncratic combination of the sensible 73.4 hp mid-range power unit and the extremely aggressive, sporty look, the R7 is by no means a sheep in wolf's clothing. The performance, which is somewhere between the R3 and the R6, turned out to be much stronger in practice than the pure values on paper would suggest, and in terms of geometry, chassis, brakes and tyres, Yamaha's engineers have really done their homework. On top of that, the Yamaha R7 has all the qualities to have a lot of fun out-of-the-box on a compact race track like the Pannoniaring, for example, even without a big investment. But of course it feels better on the country road, and that's where it belongs in the first place, in our opinion. In view of the overall package, the purchase price is more than fairly priced - so it's not a problem that the quickshifter is not included and has to be purchased as an option.
Yamaha MT-09 2021
The ingredients for the 2021 update are right: More power, more equipment, more electronics, less weight. If you take a look at the key data of the latest MT-09, including its over-complete standard equipment, "mid-range naked bike" almost sounds a bit pejorative. The Japanese engineers have made improvements exactly where they were needed. The swaying chassis is now a thing of the past and the load change reactions have also been eliminated from the revised three-cylinder engine. The additional power paired with a little more pressure in the mid-range gives a sovereign riding feeling. The MT-09 offers a lot of equipment and enormous riding pleasure at a very attractive price. If you like the look, you can buy it without hesitation.
