C'est presque un miracle que l'Autrichienne soit si souple et agile malgré ses 1301 cm3 de cylindrée. Sur la route, elle est donc très amusante, mais sur la piste de course, il faut avoir un style de conduite très précis pour ne pas avoir à travailler beaucoup sur la Super Duke R - mais c'est une très belle forme de travail ! De plus, la coûteuse Special Edition marque des points sur le plan visuel avec ses nombreuses pièces de puissance et sa belle peinture.

Son prédécesseur, la 790 Duke, avait déjà prouvé que KTM savait comment construire une naked bike de classe moyenne pour la route. La nouvelle 890 porte le flambeau avec une poitrine gonflée et mérite à nouveau son surnom de scalpel.
