La KTM est équipée de quelques pièces adaptées au tourisme et d'un ABS, mais le plaisir se trouve dans chaque cellule. On ne peut pas le décrire comme la forme d'un masque de phare ou la structure technique d'un système ABS. La manière dont KTM construit de telles motos restera à jamais un mystère et nous ne saurons jamais pourquoi elles sont si amusantes.

Ceux qui pensaient que la nouvelle 8980 SMT jouerait un rôle secondaire inutile entre les modèles 890 Adventure et 890 Duke se sont probablement trompés. Rarement une moto n'a autant réussi à faire ce qu'elle suggère de l'extérieur avec son look. La 890 SMT veut donc être conduite de manière sportive - et elle le fait particulièrement bien. Toutefois, le carénage, la selle bien rembourrée et la position de conduite droite permettent de parcourir de longues distances. Le freinage est efficace et la maniabilité est extrêmement agile, même dans les épingles les plus serrées. La devise de la 890 SMT est clairement "voyager ET rouler" !
