Son prédécesseur, la 790 Duke, avait déjà prouvé que KTM savait comment construire une naked bike de classe moyenne pour la route. La nouvelle 890 porte le flambeau avec une poitrine gonflée et mérite à nouveau son surnom de scalpel. Poussive, elle trace des courbes tout en dégageant une certaine nervosité qui peut être interprétée comme un caractère sauvage. Les caractéristiques / options sont presque complètes - mais presque seulement. Pourquoi faut-il payer un supplément pour le Quickshifter alors qu'il était monté de série sur le modèle précédent ? C'est d'autant plus énervant que le passage des vitesses sans embrayage fonctionne en douceur et que l'on n'a pas envie d'y renoncer.
