Il était prévisible que la nouvelle R 1200 RT fonctionnerait encore mieux avec le nouveau moteur boxer à refroidissement partiel par eau. Les 125 ch et 125 Nm de couple ont certes du mal à supporter les 274 kilos du modèle prêt à rouler, mais la RT conserve son incroyable vivacité par le bas. Cela la rend extrêmement agile, surtout en sortie de virage après une épingle. Les grands points positifs de la R 1200 RT sont sa bonne finition, son principe de commande simple et facile à comprendre, sans oublier son petit rayon de braquage.
