The suspension on both bikes is adjustable for compression, preload, and rebound. The Africa Twin's suspension is provided by Showa, while the Tiger also features Showa suspension but with a different adjustment option. The Tiger only allows preload adjustment on the rear suspension.

Both motorcycles have steel frames and double disk brakes at the front. However, the Africa Twin's front brakes are branded by Nissin, while the Tiger's front brakes are from Brembo. In terms of strengths, the Africa Twin is praised for its comfortable yet engaging ride, a well-balanced engine, and a slightly lower seat height that may be more suitable for riders of average height. On the other hand, the Tiger is commended for its linear and predictable power delivery, extensive electronics package, good wind protection, comfortable seating position, and top-notch brakes.

However, there are some weaknesses to consider as well. The Africa Twin's suspension is criticized for being too comfortable at high speeds and requiring constant readjustment of the traction control off-road. The Tiger, on the other hand, has reported high-frequency vibrations at certain speeds, sluggish handling, load change reactions, and unfavorably positioned grips for the pillion passenger.

In conclusion, while both the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin 2017 and the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022 are capable enduro motorcycles, they have distinct differences in terms of engine specifications, transmission, suspension, brakes, and additional features. Riders should consider their individual preferences and priorities when choosing between the two models.

Pros and Cons in comparison

Pros and Cons in comparison

Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin 2017

Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin 2017

Still sensational. It scores with the familiar Honda virtues, but never gets stale. A motorbike that goes with you through thick and thin and doesn't tire even on extra-long tours. Very robust off-road, also copes with really tough passages without any problems. Still the benchmark for touring enduros in 2017.

Comfortable but not boring

Pleasant and perfectly dimensioned engine

Seat height a tad lower than on the KTM- from 175cm height it could work

Suspension elements do everything off-road, but are too comfortably tuned at high speeds

traction control is annoying off-road - always has to be readjusted after every short break.

Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022

Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO 2022

The Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro comes with a powerful in-line three-cylinder engine and a lot of equipment. The all-round carefree package on two wheels can be steered with confidence, but clearly prefers a more leisurely pace. If that doesn't bother you, you'll enjoy the smooth electronic chassis, good wind protection and plenty of comfort features. However, the newly developed Tiger 1200 is (still) a little rough around the edges, as can be seen, for example, in the stronger load change reactions and high-frequency vibrations on motorway stages.

Linear, predictable power delivery

Extensive electronics package

Good wind protection

Comfortable seating position

Top brakes

High-frequency vibrations at certain speeds

rather sluggish handling

load change reactions

grips unfavourably positioned for pillion passenger
