At the heart of the LiveWire S2 Alpinista - Engine & Charging Time

The S2 Alpinista is powered by a robust electric motor delivering a peak output of 63 kW (86 hp) and a maximum torque of 263 Nm. These figures enable acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3 seconds. The total weight of the bike is 197 kg, which is advantageous for agility and dynamics.

The 10.5 kWh battery pack allows for a range of up to 193 km in city traffic and 114 km on the highway. There are two charging options available: Level-1 charging takes about 5.9 hours from 20 to 80 percent, while Level-2 charging covers the same range in just 78 minutes. This provides the model with more flexibility for different riding needs.

This LiveWire has quite a repertoire.

One of the technological core components of the S2 Alpinista is the 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) from Bosch. This system not only supports cornering ABS but also a corner-optimized traction control, which is intended to significantly enhance the vehicle's stability and control. These safety features are complemented by four preset riding modes and two individually configurable modes. This allows riders to adapt the motorcycle to their personal preferences and the respective road conditions. Additionally, starting from the first quarter of 2025, a comprehensive range of accessories for the S2 Alpinista will be available. These include sports seats, windshields, luggage racks, as well as soft bags and cases. These options, combined with the riding modes, offer additional, personalized comfort and functionality.

First the Charging, then the Pleasure - S2 Alpinista in Use

The chassis of the S2 Alpinista has been specifically optimized for road use. The 17-inch wheels with Dunlop Roadsmart IV tires promise agile handling and provide a precise riding feel, while the reduced seat height of 810 mm increases accessibility for a wide range of riders. With a lean angle of 52.1° to the left and 44.2° to the right, the bike is suitable for sporty cornering as well as daily commuting. Reviews of the LiveWire S2 Del Mar highlight the impressive acceleration with great fun factor and the smooth throttle response of the electric motor. Many riders report an almost silent riding experience and easy handling in city traffic - I was able to personally experience all these attributes on the streets of Barcelona. The range is described as sufficient for daily commuting, although the actual range may vary depending on riding style. Buyers should have good access to charging stations and power outlets in their respective areas or at home. Unfortunately, the LiveWire S2 Del Mar could not be charged via an extension cable at the time - our outlets in the Spanish accommodation were too far from the parking spot and no station was nearby. So, you save yourself headaches if the infrastructure is right. More experiences with the S2 Del Mar can be found under this link.
