Honda presents V3 engine with electric supercharger

The new V3 engine features a 75-degree cylinder angle and is liquid-cooled. Its compact design and slim silhouette make it ideal for fitting into the chassis of large-displacement machines without requiring additional space for an intercooler. The integrated electric compressor allows for flexible control of intake air, providing strong torque especially at low and mid-range RPMs. This design promises improved mass centralization, which could optimize handling and riding dynamics.

For connoisseurs of Honda's engine history, the new concept evokes memories of the 1985 NS400R, which was equipped with a V3 two-stroke engine as a street bike. With this model, Honda built on the success of the GP bike NS500, which won the world championship title in 1983 with Freddie Spencer. Now, 40 years later, Honda presents an entirely new V3 engine concept that continues the legacy—even as the manufacturer aims to be completely CO2-neutral in the coming decades.

Honda is pursuing ambitious plans with the new 75° V3 four-stroke engine, aiming for series production and potential mass production. The company sees enormous potential in this concept to significantly influence the performance and characteristics of future models.
