The helmets of the 1000PS supersports test

The HJC helmets in superhero design, which our editors wore for the Supersport motorcycle test, are not only real eye-catchers but also technically advanced. The RPHA 1 and RPHA 12 models offer a perfect combination of safety, comfort, and stylish design. The RPHA 1 is particularly designed for aerodynamics and stability at high speeds and provides excellent protection through its premium materials. The RPHA 12, on the other hand, impresses with its versatile range of use and excellent ventilation, ensuring a pleasant freshness even on longer rides. Both helmets are adorned with striking superhero graphics, making them a special highlight for all comic fans and motorcycle enthusiasts.

The gear for the 1000PS Supersports Test 2024

Our editors not only wore the striking HJC helmets during this supersports motorcycle test, but they were also dressed in high-quality motorcycle gear from Segura. Segura is renowned for its combination of classic design and top-notch protective function. The tested outfits included sturdy leather jackets that ensure maximum safety with their abrasion-resistant properties and integrated protectors on the shoulders, elbows, and back. Additionally, breathable and weatherproof pants, as well as gloves that offer optimal grip and protection, were part of the gear. Segura's motorcycle clothing combines stylish looks with functional details, ensuring our editors were not only well-protected but also comfortable and fashionable on the go.

The aggressive Joker design of the HJC RPHA1 perfectly matches the CFMOTO 450SR S.

Martin Bauer on the CFMOTO 450SR S

Martin Bauer describes the CFMOTO 450SR S as an impressive product that has exceeded his expectations. The bike offers a wide usable rev range, and the gear ratios are well-matched, allowing the gears to be used effectively, especially on smaller tracks. The seating position is sporty but not too extreme, making longer rides comfortable. The riding geometry ensures stability and good feedback from the chassis, and the standard Chinese tires provide good grip and turn-in behavior.

However, Bauer points out some weaknesses. The traction control is too conservative and rough in its regulation, so it should be deactivated if you want to ride faster. The ABS also only works optimally under certain conditions and can falter during maximum braking while shifting. Another issue is the fuel injection mapping, which leads to strong load changes, particularly annoying in the lower gears.

Horvath on the 450SR S

Horvath describes the CFMoto 450 SRS as the most aesthetically pleasing bike in the comparison, standing out with its stylish design featuring winglets and a single-sided swingarm. Despite its impressive appearance, he criticizes the ergonomics, particularly the too-narrow handlebars and the sharp knee angle.

The engine impresses with good grunt and an impressive sound generated by the crankpin offset, but there are strong load changes at low RPMs, which can affect the riding feel. The brakes could have a clearer pressure point, but overall, there are few complaints about them. Horvath highlights the CFMoto 450 SRS as a visually outstanding machine that, despite some weaknesses, offers an attractive overall package.

Alessio on the CFMOTO 450SR S

Alessio especially highlights the modern and high-quality digital display positively. However, he criticizes the load changes associated with the throttle response, particularly in tight corners on the supermoto track. He also finds the throttle twist too long and suggests shortening it to improve handling. He also criticizes the rear brake, which he feels does not provide enough feedback, although it is still easy to use. Overall, Alessio feels comfortable on the bike, particularly appreciating the ergonomics. Despite minor criticisms, he considers the CFMoto 450 SRS to be a well-made motorcycle.

A single-sided swingarm causes a stir in this class.

Amelie on the 450SR S

Amelie particularly emphasizes the handling and stability of the 450SR S. She feels secure on the bike, with a sporty yet comfortable seating position. She positively notes the precision of the motorcycle, which easily leans into the corners. However, Amelie also criticizes the throttle response, which she finds very rough and with too much play in the lever. Since she mainly uses engine braking, which is not effective here, she has to use the brakes more frequently. Overall, she feels comfortable on the bike, even though she sees room for improvement in the throttle response. Her verdict is a half thumbs up, as the bike impresses in many areas but still has potential for optimization.

Conclusion: Positive Experiences with the CFMOTO 450 SR S

The positive experiences with the CFMOTO 450SR S include the following aspects:

Engine Performance and Characteristics: The 450cc parallel-twin engine offers a solid 47 horsepower and has a broad usable RPM range. The engine runs smoothly and has a consistent power increase throughout the RPM range.

Gearbox Ratio: The gearbox ratio is well-tuned, which is particularly advantageous on smaller tracks. The gear gradations allow for sensible use without frequent shifting.

Seating Position and Ergonomics: The seating position is sporty but not too extreme, making longer rides comfortable.

Chassis Geometry and Handling: The chassis geometry ensures stability and good feedback from the suspension. The bike provides a good sense of the tire's limit.

Standard Tires: The standard CST tires offer good grip and neutral steering behavior. The tires hold the line well and have acceptable self-damping.

Electronic Equipment: The bike is equipped with ABS and traction control. The modern and high-quality display is perceived very positively.

'Negative experiences'

Throttle Response and Load Changes: The throttle response is described as rough, making riding, especially in tight twisties, challenging. Significant load changes at low RPMs disrupt the riding performance and can be unpleasant.

Traction Control Regulation: The traction control is described as too conservative and rough in its regulation, often requiring deactivation to ride faster.

Brakes: The brakes lack a clear pressure point, and the rear brake does not provide enough feedback, making operation difficult. While the braking performance is adequate, it is not considered outstanding.
