Suzuki GSX-S1000 GX Test

A wolf in sheep's clothing on the supermoto test track

The Suzuki GSX-S1000 GX showcased itself on the Supermoto test track in Bad Fischau as part of our 1000PS Best Time video production. Visually, the bike appears comfortable and classy, with a certain restraint and a stately aura, primarily created by the expansive front section that shields the rider from wind and weather.

Surprising Twist While Riding

The first moments in the saddle of the Suzuki GSX-S1000 GX are marked by comfort reminiscent of a touring bike. However, the calm is deceptive because as soon as the four-cylinder engine is unleashed, the bike reveals its true, surprisingly sporty nature. The short straights on the track shrink to micro-sections as you are catapulted from curve to curve.

Sporty performance hidden under a comfortable facade

It is astonishing how much sportiness is packed into this visually cozy motorcycle. The four-cylinder engine offers explosive acceleration that stretches your arms and gives you the feeling of being catapulted forward. The seating position is excellent, supported by a high-quality chassis and the Bridgestone T32 tires, which provide a lot of control and dynamic possibilities in the twisties.

High-quality technology and chassis dynamics

The linear behavior of the engine during acceleration is impressive, supported by an electronic chassis that effectively transfers power to the rear wheel. The sporty chassis provides crisp feedback, perfectly complemented by the excellent seating position. However, the maximum lean angle remains at a rather touring level.

Faster than expected

The Suzuki GSX-S1000 GX exceeds visual expectations; it is faster than its appearance suggests and often faster than you actually intend to ride. The "fear nipples" on the pegs prevent unexpected experiences due to the low-sitting exhaust. This machine is truly a wolf in sheep's clothing.

The Suzuki GSX-S1000GX does a damn good job as a crossover motorcycle. The range of applications is enormous. In the saddle, you feel equally comfortable during spirited riding as well as leisurely touring. A very practical bike that brings a lot of joy and is perfect for long tours.

The bike feels authentic both as a comfortable touring machine and as an aggressive sports bike

Pleasant seating comfort

Accessible and logical operation of the electronics

Very harmonious riding performance

hardly any vibrations and no disturbing noises - the bike presents itself very confidently

The maximum payload is 198kg. For a touring motorcycle, that's a bit too tight.

In the extensive standard equipment, a center stand and heated grips are missing in this price range

Integration of navigation is cumbersome - no suitable mounting point available, standard software is not a full-fledged solution

Standard tires feel unwieldy and dampen the great impression

Wind protection adjustable only with tools
