When it comes to stylish, gentleman-like motorcycle outfits, one often looks to British fashion. It's no coincidence that Cafe Racers and the Gentleman's Ride originate from the United Kingdom and are considered the epitome of the classically styled motorcyclist. Modeka also offers motorcycle clothing in the classic English look, such as the Modeka Glasgow jacket. However, if that's too traditional for you, there's a modernized version that I've already had the chance to try out: the Modeka Matlock jacket.
Modeka Matlock & Brandon Cargo Jeans - Urban Motorcycle Outfit
Our first impressions of the stylish casual gear from Modeka
Stylish, practical, and functional - motorcycle clothing needs to cover many areas, especially in the casual & retro segment, where motorcycle-specific features of the clothing are rather concealed. The Matlock jacket and Brandon cargo jeans are such a neo-retro outfit designed to cover these areas. I had the Modeka clothing in use in Spain and elsewhere.

Modeka Matlock Jacket plus Brandon Cargo Jeans - A modern retro outfit for the bike
Modeka Matlock Jacket - Classic Design Modernized
The Matlock jacket is the modern brother of the Glasgow jacket and still relies on the classic 4-pocket look, but refined with modern accents. The buttons are more discreetly held in silver, and the width adjustment at the hips now works via two belts adjustable by press studs. Like its traditional sister jacket, the outer fabric of the Matlock jacket is a water-repellent wax material designed to protect against the elements and colder temperatures. If it really rains cats and dogs, there is also the removable Humax membrane, which can withstand a water column of up to 10,000 mm. If the weather is more about heat and sun, you can let some airflow to your body through ventilation zippers.
Many pockets, stylish design, and weather resistance - the Modeka Matlock jacket has a lot to offer.
During my outings with the Matlock jacket, I experienced both sunshine and rain. Paradoxically, I was caught in a nasty storm in otherwise always sunny Andalusia. At the same time, during the first test of the BMW R 12 nineT, I could also see how good the jacket looks on modern retro motorcycles. The crash zones with double material and diamond quilting fit very well with Modern Classics. Emotionally, the jacket is more suited for cool to moderately warm seasons, but with the optional membranes, you are well equipped even in cold temperatures and adverse weather. This should also apply to crashes, although I have not personally tested this, as the Matlock jacket offers Level 2 protectors on the shoulders and elbows. Optionally, a back protector can also be retrofitted.
Even in worse weather, you still cut a fine figure with the Modeka Matlock jacket.
Modeka Brandon Cargo Jeans - Casual Design & Practical Use
Weather resistance might not be its thing, but just like the Matlock jacket with its large pockets, it is very practical. Additionally, the Brandon Cargo Jeans look casual and pair well with the modern retro jacket. The pants, made from Active Twill Denim fabric (98% cotton, 2% elastane), are quite soft and comfortable to wear. At the same time, DuPont Kevlar material in the hip, seat, and knee areas, as well as knee and optional hip protectors, ensure safety in case of an accident. I like the Brandon Cargo Jeans in the sand color variation because they match the often-present brown and beige tones of retro motorcycles very well. Furthermore, the slim fit also suits a skinny guy like me very well and, when combined with a matching jacket, completes the cool urban-retro motorcycle outfit.
By striking a balance between modernity and tradition, the Matlock jacket and Brandon cargo jeans fit perfectly with both modern and classic bikes.
