Peugeot project SPx 2024

When I received the press release from Peugeot, I couldn't believe my luck. The first paragraph mentioned the Peugeot 103, a model that may not be familiar to many, but holds a special place in my heart. Back in 1982, it was a Peugeot 103 that accompanied me on my daily journeys to school, afternoon hangouts with friends, and basically everywhere when I was just 16 years old (and even before that, to be honest)! Similar to our "Stangl-Puch", the 103 was a reliable moped with a simple design that never let me down - what could possibly go wrong with a sturdy 50cc bike?

With its iconic design, simple construction, ease of use, and affordable price, the Peugeot 103 provided a way to break free from the constraints of traditional, expensive personal transportation or inadequate public transport in France around 50 years ago. The Peugeot 103 set the stage for a new era of personal mobility that was within reach for everyone.

Peugeot is revisiting this concept with the SPx project. Equipped with an electric motor, it aims to contribute to shaping the future and societal acceptance of personal transportation. The current social challenges related to urbanization, traffic congestion, and environmental changes undoubtedly call for a new perspective. The SPx project does not position itself as a trailblazer in this evolution, but rather as the initial refined and harmonious response to the obstacles we encounter. It is the outcome of a determination to gaze ahead while honoring the past.

The Peugeot Roller SPx project is aimed at providing a unique riding experience with its highly dynamic chassis concept. The aluminum monocoque chassis, with its optimal weight and geometry, ensures exceptional agility and precise handling. The electric motor adds to the vehicle's exciting dynamics. Additionally, the SPx project focuses on sustainability by reducing weight, minimizing the number of parts, and incorporating recycled materials.
