When it comes to the chassis, the Z900 SE has a steel frame with a double cradle design, while the Monster has an aluminum frame with a load-bearing engine design. Both bikes have double disk brakes at the front with four-piston calipers, but the Monster has larger 320 mm diameter disks and uses radial, monoblock technology. Both bikes are equipped with Brembo brakes.
In terms of advanced rider assistance systems, the Z900 SE features ABS, riding modes, ride by wire, and traction control. Now, let's discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each bike. The Z900 SE stands out for its powerful and sonorous four-cylinder engine, high-quality chassis components (including Öhlins rear suspension), strong Brembo brakes, good ergonomics, and easy handling. However, it lacks a quickshifter, lean angle-dependent traction control, and cornering ABS due to the absence of an IMU. It is also relatively heavy.
The Monster, on the other hand, offers a typical Ducati powerplant with charisma, a comfortable seating position, a responsive braking system, agile handling, high-quality components, and a comprehensive electronics package. It includes features such as cornering ABS, lean angle-dependent traction control, launch control, and a quickshifter. However, it has been criticized for engine jerks at low revs and a front fork that is tuned too softly. Additionally, the absence of a trellis frame has led some to feel that it is no longer unmistakably a Monster.
In conclusion, both the Kawasaki Z900 SE 2023 and the Ducati Monster 2023 have their own strengths and weaknesses. The Z900 SE offers a powerful engine and high-quality chassis components, while the Monster provides a charismatic powerplant and a comprehensive electronics package. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on the rider's preferences and priorities.

Kawasaki Z900 SE 2023

The Z900 SE is not only a successful addition to the normal Z900, but actually the better and more sensible version. Because the refined fork, the Öhlins suspension strut that is not fully adjustable but more responsive, and the snappier Brembo M4.32 brake system make the SE refreshingly sportier and are well worth the extra price - especially if you also take into account the cool look of the Prestige components! However, the fact that a quickshifter is not even available at extra cost will hurt real sports enthusiasts. If you can live with the relatively high weight of over 214 kilos, you get a sufficiently manageable naked bike.

You can always argue about the looks and the lack of a trellis frame, but the current Monster is anything but ugly. Basically, it would be a great everyday naked bike with pleasant ergonomics and a braking system that does not surprise even the inexperienced. The rather soft chassis can also be considered an acceptable compromise, but for a Ducati it is rather surprising that at least the front fork was not tuned a little tighter. Unfortunately, the charismatic engine bucks strongly at low revs and thus only shows its wonderful V2 character on the country road. All in all, however, this reflects the overall image of the Monster very well: a typical Ducati that is also good for everyday riding in terms of chassis and brakes.
