Overview - KTM 890 Duke 2021 vs KTM 890 Adventure 2021
The KTM 890 Duke 2021 and the KTM 890 Adventure 2021 are both powerful motorcycles from KTM, but they have some key differences that make them suitable for different types of riders and riding conditions.
Starting with the engine, both models have the same in-line twin-cylinder engine with a displacement of 889cc. However, the KTM 890 Duke produces 115 horsepower and 92 Nm of torque, while the KTM 890 Adventure produces 105 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque. This means that the Duke has a slightly more powerful engine, which results in a more lively and rev-happy performance. On the other hand, the Adventure has a more linear power delivery, which can be advantageous for off-road riding.
In terms of suspension, the KTM 890 Duke features an upside-down telescopic fork from WP with a diameter of 43mm and a travel of 140mm at the front, and a swing arm with a monoshock from WP with a travel of 150mm at the rear. The KTM 890 Adventure, on the other hand, has a more robust suspension setup with a 48mm upside-down telescopic fork at the front and a swing arm with a monoshock at the rear, both from WP. The Adventure also has a longer travel of 200mm for both the front and rear suspension, which makes it more suitable for off-road riding and rough terrains.

In terms of chassis, both models feature a chromium-molybdenum frame with a tubular design. However, the Adventure model has a load-bearing engine frame, which provides additional rigidity and stability, especially during off-road riding.
When it comes to brakes, both models have double disk brakes at the front with a diameter of 300mm for the Duke and 320mm for the Adventure. Both models also have four-piston calipers and radial technology, which provides excellent braking performance. The Adventure model is praised for its finely controlled brakes, which can be advantageous in off-road situations.
In terms of rider assistance systems, both models come with ABS, riding modes, cornering ABS, ride by wire, and traction control. However, the Adventure model lacks some advanced features that are present in the Duke, such as launch control and anti-wheelie. Additionally, the Adventure model does not come standard with important components like a quickshifter and cruise control, which can be disappointing for some riders.
In terms of dimensions and weights, the Duke has a front tire width of 120mm and a diameter of 17 inches, while the Adventure has a narrower front tire width of 90mm and a larger diameter of 21 inches. The rear tire width is 180mm for the Duke and 150mm for the Adventure, both with a diameter of 17 inches and 18 inches respectively. The Adventure also has a longer wheelbase of 1528mm compared to the Duke's 1476mm. The seat height is higher for the Adventure at 850mm compared to the Duke's 820mm. The Adventure also has a larger fuel tank capacity of 20 liters, while the Duke has a capacity of 14 liters.

In terms of strengths, the Duke is praised for its rev-happy engine, lively handling, buttery-smooth quickshifter, and comprehensive electronics package. It is also noted that the Duke does not leave riders desiring the R version on country roads. On the other hand, the Adventure is praised for its super engine with a linear and superior power delivery, finely controlled brakes, comprehensive electronics, good ergonomics for both sitting and standing riding, low seat height suitable for shorter riders, and a quickshifter that enhances the riding experience. The Adventure's low center of gravity also contributes to its great handling.
As for weaknesses, the Duke's quickshifter is only available at an extra cost, which can be seen as a drawback. The Adventure, on the other hand, has a pricing policy for extras that some riders may find unfavorable. Additionally, the Adventure's telescopic fork at the front is not adjustable, and important components like the quickshifter and cruise control are not included as standard, which can be disappointing for riders.
In conclusion, the KTM 890 Duke 2021 and the KTM 890 Adventure 2021 are both powerful motorcycles with their own strengths and weaknesses. The Duke is more suitable for riders looking for a lively and rev-happy performance on the road, while the Adventure is better suited for off-road riding with its robust suspension and additional features. Ultimately, the choice between the two models depends on the rider's preferences and intended riding conditions.

Pros and Cons in comparison
Pros and Cons in comparison
KTM 890 Duke 2021
The predecessor 790 Duke already proved that KTM knows how to build a mid-range naked bike for the road. The new 890 carries the torch with a puffy chest and once again lives up to its scalpel nickname. Lively, it pulls the radii and gives off a certain nervousness that can be interpreted as a wild character. The equipment is almost complete - but only almost. Why do you have to pay extra for the quickshifter when it was standard on the predecessor? It is all the more annoying that the clutchless upshifting and downshifting functions as smoothly as butter and that one would not want to do without it.
KTM 890 Adventure 2021
The Adventure conveys a light-footedness and sportiness that is often missing in the class of touring enduros. The engine is lively and ensures rapid overtaking manoeuvres at the pass. However, the cheeky sportiness loses something of the dignified travelling comfort that one wishes for, especially on longer stages.
