If you're like us at 1000PS, regularly shuttling motorcycles across the country, you'll know this: Transport isn't the highlight, but the necessity. And that's where the madness begins. We've got multiple transporters. And we've got plenty of bikes. That means a lot of loading—and unfortunately, plenty of stories better left untold when insurance companies or motorcycle manufacturers are in earshot.

Wide Loading Ramps - Securely Load Your Motorcycle
No Tipping Over When Loading Your Bike!
Loading large motorcycles can be tricky. A wide ramp makes balancing much easier. An experience report.

From Narrow Ramps to Big Problems – and a Broken Fence
The low point—and simultaneously the start of our ramp revolution—was when a KTM 1290 Super Adventure broke free from Nasty Nils' grip in true bazooka fashion, rolling sideways off the narrow ramp straight into the 1000PS building's garden fence. It was spectacular. It was embarrassing. And it was dangerous.

Loading motorcycles with narrow ramps requires precision and long arms!
The cause of this disaster was quickly identified: narrow ramps are an invitation to disaster—especially with tall, heavy motorcycles. You're positioned way too low while loading, barely able to reach the handlebars, forced to balance like a circus performer, and silently praying that the tires stay on track.
Then came the turning point. We discovered an extra-wide ramp—and it's a true game changer. With this ramp, you can walk alongside the motorcycle, stay level with the bike, have secure footing, and no longer need surgical precision when aiming the tires. In short: it's almost comfortable.

The wide ramp: Heavy, bulky – yet brilliant.
Of course, it does have a downside: it's heavy. A ramp this wide and then extra-long? Forget it—you won't get it into a vehicle without hassle. But at a reasonable length and with the right vehicle height, it's worth its weight in gold.
Not Suitable for Low Riders
Important: This wide ramp is slightly shorter than foldable, single-track ramps. It doesn't work with bikes that have low ground clearance. For instance, if the exhaust is mounted very low, the ramp angle would be too steep, causing the header to hit or the underside to scrape the edge. However, it's perfect for adventure bikes, naked bikes, and anything with decent ground clearance. It's also too short for loading onto high pickups. But with low trailers or transporters with reasonably low loading edges, it's a great choice.
In the end, you have to choose the right compromise. A wide AND long ramp is, of course, relatively heavy and bulky. So for us, a wide ramp with a barely acceptable ramp angle was the best solution. We use this wide ramp precisely for those bikes with sufficient ground clearance: heavy and tall adventure bikes!
Conclusion After Extensive Use
We now use the ramp regularly—both at the 1000PS headquarters and at home. Especially when things get really tricky. If you, like me, often have to load alone, deal with heavy and tall motorcycles, and are tired of death-defying balancing acts, then this ramp is highly recommended.
