Strengths
- The first version of the KTM Duke 790 impresses with its very nimble and precise riding performance, which is particularly enjoyable on twisty country roads. Riders praise the technical features, including a modern TFT display and comprehensive electronics with traction control and various riding modes. The inline-twin engine is particularly noteworthy, delivering not only strong performance but also captivating with its distinctive sound. Compared to competitors like the Yamaha MT-09 or Triumph Street Triple, the Duke 790 offers a solid overall package at an attractive price.
Weaknesses
- The aggressive and angular design divides opinions. The license plate holder and the swingarm are often criticized. Material quality is also an issue, as plastic fairings and seemingly inferior components like indicator assemblies and throttle grips are frequently complained about. Occasionally, early models experience engine oil leaks. Additionally, there are reports of problems with the TFT display and the general reliability of the electronics. A final drawback is the lack of rear splash protection, which can affect everyday usability in bad weather.
