Stark Varg EX 2025 Electric Enduro Unveiled

Among electric off-road motorcycles, the Stark Varg E-motocross machine has been making waves for the past three years and has even gained attention beyond this niche. With 80 hp peak power, a vehicle weight of 118 kg, and up to 938 Nm of torque at the rear wheel, it offers an incredible riding performance that has already sparked enthusiasm and amazement in countless videos on the internet. Now, Stark Future is taking the next step to make their unique motorcycle accessible to an even larger group of bikers. Starting in 2025, the high-performance Varg package can be legally taken onto roads and forest paths in the form of the new Varg EX.

The powertrain of the Stark VARG EX delivers an impressive 80 hp, making it the most powerful enduro bike on the market. Riders can customize the performance, including power delivery, engine braking, and recuperation level, which are adjustable via a handlebar switch (5 modes available). Whether the agile handling of a 125cc two-stroke or the raw power of a 450cc four-stroke machine is desired, the electric drive offers a high degree of adaptability. The 7.2 kWh honeycomb magnesium battery not only serves as an energy source but also as a structural element, contributing to a lightweight and centralized design. With a 20% greater range compared to the VARG MX, it can be fully charged in just two hours with the supplied charger. How far you can go, of course, greatly depends on riding style and terrain. In absolute terms, Stark states 1.3 to 6 hours of riding time.

The VARG EX is more than just an off-road marvel: it is fully street-legal. Riders can legally use it on public roads in countries across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of the USA. The paradox: Despite its 80 hp peak power, it is approved for the A1 license class. Two-wheelers with electric drive operate in a legal gray area due to their variable engine power. During the approval process, the power is measured over a certain period, and individual power peaks are allowed to exceed the 15 hp limit, enabling the Stark Varg EX to qualify for the A1 class. Thanks to its compatibility with the A1 license, or even a car license in some countries, the VARG EX makes enduro riding accessible to a broader audience. It offers several features necessary for street approval:

• Patented flexible indicators, integrated into the front light mask, made from durable optical silicone.
• A 4,000-lumen headlight, three times brighter than those of the competition.
• An integrated license plate holder.

The steel chassis of the VARG EX is designed to offer a high degree of vertical and horizontal flexibility, enhancing grip and control in corners. The lightweight carbon subframe also serves as a cooling duct for the drivetrain. Suspension duties are handled by a specially tuned KYB setup, featuring a USD fork with a substantial 300 mm of travel at the front and a linked shock absorber with 310 mm of travel at the rear. Additionally, the VARG EX is equipped with off-road-specific components made from fine materials.

When it comes to display and connectivity, the Varg EX takes a unique approach. It is equipped with the Stark Arkenstone, a military-grade Android device that is integrated into the motorcycle but can also be detached like a smartphone. This device not only serves as a traditional display in the cockpit but also offers several functions for controlling navigation and the motorcycle. The features of the Stark Arkenstone include:

• GPS recording of routes and turn-by-turn navigation, reportedly developed by Stark in collaboration with a leading map provider.
• Real-time adjustment of power, engine braking, and regeneration settings.
• Community options to upload routes and follow tracks from other riders.

The VARG EX also receives an updated switch unit with a waterproof and shock-resistant aluminum housing, where the special routing of the cables is intended to provide additional protection against damage.

Sustainability has been a central theme at Stark Future since the company's founding in 2020, which is why the Varg EX is designed to be as efficient and environmentally friendly as possible. Its electric drive eliminates the need for conventional components such as pistons, clutches, and oil changes, reducing maintenance costs to a level comparable to mountain bikes. Silent, emission-free, and eco-friendly, it aims to offer an exciting riding experience with minimal ecological footprint. Small detail solutions, such as protective components made from biodegradable bio-plastic, and a two-year warranty further enhance its profile.

The Varg EX offers a range of accessories, including titanium upgrades for pegs, bolts, and axles for further weight reduction, five different tire options compatible with tube, tubeless systems, or mousse, and customizable Brembo brakes. Pre-orders for the Varg EX Enduro are now available, with worldwide shipping starting in the first quarter of 2025.
