Luxuriously Slimmed Down!

The KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO 2025 has only been around for 2 days, and already a second variant is being introduced. The "S" model has to do without some electronics, but for some, it might be the better choice.

KTM 1390 Super Adventure S: Engine and Performance

There are no surprises with the engine. The V-twin engine of the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S now offers 1,350 cc displacement, an increase over the previous model 1290 Super Adventure S. With an impressive output of 173 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 145 Nm at 8,000 rpm. This is made possible by Camshift technology. From 6,500 rpm, the sharper cam takes over, while in the lower rpm range, the Camshift ensures smoother throttle response and lower emissions, which not only reduces fuel consumption but also improves the bike's suitability for everyday use. Optimism is shown regarding the durability of the large twin-cylinder, and the intervals for valve clearance checks are extended to 60,000 km. How the powerful V-twin performs in a prototype within the chassis of an adventure bike can be read in the report on the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO.

KTM 1390 Super Adventure S: Chassis, Frame Ergonomics, Tires

Perhaps surprisingly for some: The suspension of the S also utilizes the latest generation of semi-active WP suspension, specifically optimized for high damping frequencies. The days when the acronym EVO at KTM stood for a semi-active E-suspension are now over. The suspension travel remains a generous 200 mm at both the front and rear, and the ground clearance is a respectable 223 mm, befitting an adventure bike. It shares frame, saddle, and ergonomic adjustments with the EVO: For increased comfort, the seating position has been optimized: The footpegs are now 8 mm lower and 10 mm wider, making the knee angle even more relaxed. The wheel sizes remain identical to the predecessor with 120/70/19 at the front and 179/60/17 at the rear, but the often-criticized original equipment tire of the 1290 Adventure S has been replaced by the proven road-oriented Dunlop Trailmax Meridian.

No AMT in the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S! Electronics and Technology

One of the highlights of the new KTM 1390 Super Adventure S, which it shares with its EVO sibling, is the vertical V80 touchscreen display. This 8-inch TFT display is specifically designed for the needs of riders and is excellently readable even in challenging lighting conditions, thanks to its anti-reflective, anti-fingerprint, and anti-glare coating. The operation is said to be effortless even with thick gloves.

Through the display, all riding modes and connectivity functions can be controlled. For an additional charge, you can also get the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) along with a brake assistant, collision warning, and distance warning from the EVO sibling; a "normal" cruise control is standard. However, the AMT cannot be retrofitted and is reserved for the top model.

Wind protection and design

The design of the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S has been completely revamped for the 2025 model year. However, you have to look very closely to distinguish the S from its EVO sister. The new bodywork design enhances aerodynamics, and the new LED headlights provide better visibility during night rides - they are even said to be class-leading, while the larger storage compartment offers practical benefits. Another feature is the redesigned windshield, which provides better wind protection (15mm more adjustment range).

KTM 1390 Super Adventure S Price, Availability, Color Variants

With the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S 2025, KTM introduces an extremely powerful, technologically advanced adventure bike that is likely to perform well both on the road and off the beaten path. It comes equipped with everything needed for a journey and might be the better choice for some out there. The price is not yet known, but it will definitely be positioned below that of its EVO sibling. The KTM 1390 Super Adventure S is expected to be available from the beginning of 2025. Customers can choose between a classic orange color variant and a more subdued black-and-white variant.
