My first motorcycle was a Derbi Senda 50 cc at the age of 16. Since then, smaller supermotos had largely fallen off my radar. I was drawn to the increasingly rapid and superlative motorcycles, captivated by their advanced technology filled with sensors and microcomputers. However, climbing aboard the Fantic 125 was like stepping back in time. Suddenly, I was 16 again.

It's all about pure mechanics, a thrilling ride, and the sheer joy of being on two wheels. The Fantic 125 excels in the entry-level category, offering enthusiasts a chance to truly indulge in their love for tinkering and gasoline - all without the intrusion of electronic aids or assistance systems. The Fantic XMF 125 isn't for everyone, but it offers purists an undeniably authentic and unforgettable experience!

Technical data of the Fantic XMF 125 - model year 2024

The 2024 Fantic XMF 125 is a nimble and accessible supermoto, tailor-made for young enthusiasts seeking a racing experience.

This model is powered by a single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a displacement of 124.66 cc, producing a peak power of 15 hp at 9,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 11.8 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The engine meets the Euro 5 emissions standards and features an electronic fuel injection system and a slipper clutch system to prevent rear wheel lock-up during rapid downshifts, enhancing safety.

The suspension setup includes a 41 mm upside-down fork at the front, which is non-adjustable, and a hydraulically adjustable rear shock absorber.

The braking system employs wave discs, measuring 320 mm at the front and 220 mm at the rear, and is enhanced by a combined braking system for superior stopping power.

Important new features of the braking system on the Fantic XMF 125 for model year 2024

The inclusion of combined braking systems is undoubtedly beneficial, particularly for models like the Fantic XMF, which lacks ABS, thus significantly increasing the risk of tire lock during emergency braking. During our test ride, it was evident that the combined braking system effectively engages once the front brake is applied. However, when only the rear brake is utilized, the front does not receive any braking force.

This is a crucial enhancement for the 2024 model year because if the combined braking system were to engage with the use of the rear brake alone, it could create hazardous conditions and potentially cause the motorcycle to overturn, especially for novice riders unfamiliar with the braking dynamics of a motorcycle.

Purist concept - Fantic XMF 125 dispenses with assistance systems

A breath of fresh air for some, a dealbreaker for others. The Fantic XMF 125 Competition stands out as a top choice for enthusiasts who favor straightforward mechanics and minimal frills. The 125 offers a spartan, purist feel when ridden.

You won't find ABS, traction control, or other technical aids on the Fantic XMF. This leads to a genuine riding experience that fosters a true bond with the bike. For safety, Fantic incorporates a slipper clutch in the XMF to prevent accidents due to speed fluctuations.

15 hp at 9,750 rpm - high speeds are required

Supermoto paired with a 125cc engine is truly a unique combination. The engine certainly delivers ample power for this engine class, which is a significant advantage, especially appealing to the younger biking enthusiasts. Navigating through the city in third or fourth gear isn't quite the forte of the XMF, as that's not what it's designed for. The brand new Minarelli engine requires a good amount of revving to really kick into gear. The riding experience at higher revs is beautifully complemented by the standard Arrow silencer, producing a robust, yet not overly disruptive or loud noise—exactly how a factory Supermoto should sound.

Once the engine is up and running, the fun really begins. With 17-inch tires on both the front and rear, the bike provides excellent feedback and allows for aggressive cornering.

Ergonomics particularly attractive for smaller people

Supermotos are often overlooked by many riders due to their elevated seating positions. The Fantic Supermoto XMF 125 presents a viable compromise with a seat height of 880 mm. Its slim supermoto saddle also accommodates shorter riders. The ready-to-ride weight of 119 kilograms enhances its accessibility. Despite this, the riding position remains quite comfortable for taller individuals. The handlebar setup encourages an upright and relaxed posture, ensuring comfort even over longer journeys. However, the seat could benefit from additional padding, as it is often found to be quite firm.

Fantic XMF 125 - Top entry-level model for younger people in particular

The Fantic XMF 125 is a real eye-catcher and could be the perfect entry-level bike for young riders looking for a stylish and practical motorcycle. Its design, which reflects the Italian passion for detailed and vibrant color schemes, immediately catches the eye. The dark red accents on the handlebars, fork, and wheel hub provide a strong contrast to the neon yellow main design and give the bike a particularly cool touch.

The supermoto light mask and the hand guard also contribute to the sporty look, although the mounting of the light mask may initially raise concerns, as it is mainly attached with rubber bands and therefore appears somewhat wobbly. This peculiarity may be irritating at first, but with time you realize that it is merely a special feature of the design that does not spoil the overall impression.

From a technical point of view, the Fantic XMF 125 remains true to its line by dispensing with superfluous electronics and concentrating on solid mechanics. This not only makes it reliable and low-maintenance, but also allows you to enjoy the pure riding experience - without the distraction of complex assistance systems. The robust and simple design particularly appeals to those who appreciate an uncomplicated and direct driving experience.

In short, the Fantic XMF 125 combines Italian flair with practical simplicity, making it an attractive choice for beginners who value style, reliability, and an authentic riding experience. An ideal bike to enter the world of motorcycles with enthusiasm!
