The new C5 flip-up helmet from Schuberth Performance is the manufacturer's first motorcycle helmet - and is made of carbon with manual lamination. This is intended to give the helmet a lower weight and at the same time make it stronger than regular motorcycle helmets. Production is carried out by the technicians who usually also develop helmets for Formula 1. The helmet will also feature P/J double homologation and meet the ECE 22.06 standard.

Technical development

The expertise that has been integrated into the helmet originates from the close collaboration between the motorsport and motorcycle divisions at Schuberth. Being the manufacturer's inaugural carbon helmet, it was essential to establish a production method. At Schuberth, this method is centered around the "one worker, one shell" principle. The technician responsible for the initial lamination process continues with the subsequent steps of shell production. The C5's shell is composed of multiple layers of carbon, meticulously laminated by hand into a carbon mold. This process demands a high level of expertise and accuracy. Similar to the Schuberth F1 helmets, the C5's shell is cured in an autoclave, where a precise combination of pressure and temperature melds the carbon layers and resin into a unified piece within a specific timeframe. With the new shell, the C5 is reported to weigh approximately 200g less than traditional models.
