BMW R 1250 RS 2019 vs. BMW R nineT Scrambler 2016

The BMW R 1250 RS 2019 and the BMW R nineT Scrambler 2016 are both sport touring motorcycles with Boxer engines. However, there are several differences between the two models.

In terms of engine power, the BMW R 1250 RS 2019 has a higher output with 136 HP compared to the BMW R nineT Scrambler 2016's 110 HP. The R 1250 RS also has a higher torque of 143 Nm, while the R nineT Scrambler has a torque of 119 Nm. Both motorcycles have fuel injection systems and use a prop shaft for transmission.

The R 1250 RS has a larger displacement of 1254 ccm compared to the R nineT Scrambler's 1170 ccm. The R 1250 RS also has a liquid-air cooling system, while the R nineT Scrambler uses an oil-air cooling system.

In terms of suspension, the R 1250 RS has an upside-down telescopic fork at the front with a travel of 140 mm, while the R nineT Scrambler has a telescopic fork with a travel of 125 mm. At the rear, the R 1250 RS has a single swing arm suspension with a travel of 140 mm, while the R nineT Scrambler has a Paralever suspension with the same travel.

Both motorcycles have steel frames, but the R 1250 RS has a load-bearing engine frame type, while the R nineT Scrambler has a tubular frame type. Both models also have double disk brakes at the front with a diameter of 320 mm and radial technology.

In terms of advanced rider assistance systems, the R 1250 RS has ABS, anti-slipping control, riding modes, and ride by wire, while the R nineT Scrambler only has ABS.

Both motorcycles have similar front and rear tire dimensions, wheelbase, seat height, and fuel tank capacity.

The R 1250 RS has a number of strengths including precise and stable handling, an agile and high-revving boxer engine, a modern look, a seating position suitable for touring, and a range of standard features such as ABS, traction control, selectable riding modes, a colour TFT display, and LED headlights. It also has an extensive list of accessories available.

On the other hand, the R nineT Scrambler has a boxer engine with character, offering vibrations, power, and sound. It has a comfortable chassis, a pleasant seating position, powerful brakes, and a cool look. Additionally, it is much cheaper than the R nineT.

However, the R 1250 RS has a few weaknesses including a windshield that could be higher and many features that come at an extra cost. The R nineT Scrambler has a rather hard saddle and a spartan dashboard, lacking a rev counter and gear indicator in the base model.
