Když se na R3 projedete na limitu, rychle pocítíte, proč na ní Yamaha založila vlastní pohár, protože i standardní model poskytuje ve vysokých rychlostech bezpečný pocit. Přesto je zde prostor pro zlepšení, zejména při každodenním používání, kdy hrubá odezva v nízkých otáčkách a špatná zpětná vazba od brzdové páky vedou během jízdy k některým momentům frustrace.

Navzdory poněkud svérázné kombinaci rozumné pohonné jednotky se středním výkonem 73,4 k a extrémně agresivního sportovního vzhledu není R7 v žádném případě ovcí ve vlčím rouše.
