Overview - Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S 2023 vs Moto Guzzi V85 TT 2019

The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S 2023 and the Moto Guzzi V85 TT 2019 are both sport touring motorcycles from the Moto Guzzi brand. While they share some similarities in terms of engine type, transmission, and suspension, there are also notable differences between the two models.

Starting with the engine specifications, the V100 Mandello S 2023 is equipped with a V2 engine with a bore of 96 mm and a stroke of 72 mm. It generates a higher engine power of 115 HP and torque of 105 Nm. On the other hand, the V85 TT 2019 also features a V2 engine but with a smaller bore of 84 mm and a longer stroke of 77 mm. It produces a lower engine power of 80 HP and torque of 80 Nm. This indicates that the V100 Mandello S offers more power and torque compared to the V85 TT.

In terms of suspension, both motorcycles feature upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. However, the V100 Mandello S has a larger fork diameter of 43 mm compared to the 41 mm diameter of the V85 TT. Additionally, the V100 Mandello S offers adjustment options for compression, rebound, preload, and shock absorber, while the V85 TT only allows adjustment for preload and rebound. This suggests that the V100 Mandello S provides more flexibility and customization in suspension settings.

When it comes to brakes, both motorcycles have double disk brakes at the front with a diameter of 320 mm. However, the V100 Mandello S incorporates radial, monoblock technology, which enhances braking performance. The V85 TT, on the other hand, features radial brakes without monoblock technology. This implies that the V100 Mandello S may offer better braking capabilities compared to the V85 TT.

In terms of advanced rider assistance systems, the V100 Mandello S is equipped with cornering ABS and traction control, while the V85 TT features ABS, riding modes, ride by wire, and traction control. This indicates that the V85 TT offers a more comprehensive range of rider assistance systems.

In terms of dimensions and weights, the V100 Mandello S has a slightly higher kerb weight of 233 kg compared to the 229 kg of the V85 TT. However, the V85 TT has a larger fuel tank capacity of 21 liters, while the V100 Mandello S has a fuel tank capacity of 17 liters. This suggests that the V85 TT may offer a longer riding range due to its larger fuel tank capacity.

Both motorcycles come equipped with LED headlights, providing improved visibility and energy efficiency.

In terms of strengths, the V100 Mandello S is praised for its confident V2 powerplant with typical Guzzi vibrations, excellent Brembo brakes, comfortable seating position, electrically adjustable windshield, unique flaps for weather protection, good handling, extensive standard equipment, electronic Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension, and classy look. On the other hand, the V85 TT is appreciated for its cozy, forgiving V2 engine, great sound, good decelerating brakes, iconic and beautiful exterior, suitability for light off-road terrain, and easy-care cardan drive.

However, both motorcycles also have their weaknesses. The V100 Mandello S is criticized for its shift assistant not working cleanly and high heat development in city mode. The V85 TT is noted to lack sportiness and performance according to some editors, be unsuitable for harder off-road tracks, and have difficulties for taller riders when driving in a standing position.

In conclusion, the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S 2023 and the Moto Guzzi V85 TT 2019 are both impressive motorcycles with their own strengths and weaknesses. The V100 Mandello S offers more power, advanced rider assistance systems, and a slightly higher weight, while the V85 TT provides a cozy engine, iconic design, and a larger fuel tank capacity. Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S 2023

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S 2023

Moto Guzzi does not want to push the V100 Mandello S into the sports tourer segment and speaks of a roadster suitable for touring - and in fact it is more of a naked bike in terms of its pleasant seating position and agile handling, which conveys a surprising amount of touring character with its electrically adjustable windshield! The unique flaps are probably only noticeable at very low temperatures, but the engine perfectly matches the sovereign appearance and the brakes are brilliantly tuned. Finally, the S version pampers with a standard quickshifter including blipper, heated grips, MIA communication system, tyre pressure control and the electronically adjustable Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension. Asking for just under 20,000 euros for this may therefore only seem hefty at first glance.

Moto Guzzi V85 TT 2019

Moto Guzzi V85 TT 2019

The cruiser among the touring enduros radiates cosiness and sovereignty. Its thundering V2 engine moves well and forgivingly. The chassis and brakes also work well. It is just as ill-suited to extreme off-road situations as it is in the hands of notorious knee-grinders. The Moto Guzzi V 85 TT likes to do its rounds in a refined and comfortable manner, and even for longer tours it offers enough practical comfort with its cardan drive and ergonomics. On top of that, it looks sensational and conveys emotion. The only thing some of our testers would like is a few more horses than its 80 hp.
